The Apple store unionization vote comes against a backdrop of other labor organizing efforts nationwide — some of them rebuffed.

The union alleges that Apple has violated labor laws and made a fair election impossible. A vote was scheduled for next week. If successful, it would have been the first unionized Apple store in the United States.

A group of agricultural workers on Long Island has formed New York’s first farmworkers union—a landmark move that was the result of decades of activism.

Farmworkers fought for years to have the legal power to unionize in New York State. Finally, in 2019, the state passed the Farm Laborers Fair Labor Practices Act, which gave agricultural and farm workers the right to collectively bargain.
